Ladybirds Room
(0–2 Years)
Our Ladybirds Room is a warm, welcoming space designed especially for our youngest children. We understand that the first years of life are incredibly important, which is why we provide a nurturing environment where babies feel safe, secure and valued as they begin to explore the world around them.
In the Ladybirds Room, we focus on building strong, caring relationships with each child, supporting their individual routines and ensuring they feel settled and happy throughout the day. Our experienced practitioners work closely with families to create a home-from-home environment where children can thrive.
The room is carefully organised to encourage exploration and discovery through play. Children have access to a variety of sensory experiences, natural resources, creative activities and age-appropriate toys that support their physical, social and emotional development.
Whether they are exploring textures, joining in with songs and stories, or developing their first friendships, every experience is designed to support their learning journey.
Outdoor play forms an important part of our daily routine. Our youngest children enjoy opportunities to explore the outdoors, experience nature and develop their confidence in a safe and stimulating environment.
At Walmer Nursery, we believe every child deserves the very best start in life, and our Ladybirds Room provides the perfect foundation for children to grow, learn and flourish.

Caterpillars & Butterflies Room
(2–4 Years)
Our Caterpillars and Butterflies Room is a vibrant and engaging environment for children aged 2 to 4 years. This shared space encourages curiosity, independence and a love of learning, providing children with opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence and form positive relationships with their peers.
We follow each childs interests and individual stage of development, creating meaningful learning experiences through play. Our practitioners carefully plan activities that support all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, helping children to become confident, capable learners. The room offers a wide range of opportunities for children to explore, create and investigate. From imaginative role play and creative arts to early literacy, mathematics and problem-solving activities, children are encouraged to learn through hands-on experiences that spark their curiosity and imagination. Outdoor learning is an important part of life in Caterpillars and Butterflies. Children enjoy daily access to our outdoor areas, where they can develop their physical skills, take managed risks and explore the natural world. Our Forest School experiences further support children's confidence, resilience and understanding of the environment around them.
